My tropical animals

My Tropical Animals was born out of a desire to raise awareness of Costa Rica’s biodiversity and to educate the public about its richness and fragility. Many tropical species remain little known, despite their ecological importance. This project invites us to observe, understand and reconnect with nature through a creative and playful approach.

It is also a meticulous design exercise, in which each animal is graphically transformed into a paper object. The shapes, colours and character of each species are translated into tangible models, encouraging interaction and learning through hands-on activity. The project also offers paper models with varying levels of difficulty, making it accessible to all ages.

From simple creations for children to more complex structures for adults, My Tropical Animals combines education, creativity and craftsmanship. Overall, the project aims to raise awareness of Costa Rica’s tropical biodiversity by bringing together design, paper art and environmental consciousness, and by encouraging a deeper and more respectful connection with nature.
